Sheet Iron Dual Sport Ride, 19-20 May 2012

Sheet Iron Dual Sport Ride held in Northern California every year in May. This ride takes a mixture of dirt and street from Stonyford to Fort Bragg on the coast on Saturday. Sunday sees riders head back on an alternative route taking in sweeping dirt roads traveling through forest, farm and flat land. This was my first year and now I can see why the 500 spots fill up so quickly. The ride is really well put together by the Oakland Motorcycle Club, with every aspect well taken care of. The route is navigated via a roll chart which at first seems a little archaic but once you get into the flow of it, it becomes second nature. Its also nice to not be distracted by yet another digital device (GPS). Everyone is there to have a good time, and there are smiles all around. Rode this year with my sister, bro in law and members of the San Francisco Motorcycle Club. The whole weekend was a blast, and now its monday night and after cleaning the bike up and feeding myself, im tired, but still wearing a smile from all those miles….
